ABSTRACT Since different countries have different histories and geographical locations, there are a lot of differences in culture, economy, politics and so on, especially the habit of conducts as well as the etiquette between Chinese and westerners. Therefore, the understanding of the different etiquettes between Chinese and the Westerners is absolutely necessary, such as the dining etiquette. This thesis aims to investigate the origin, development and characteristics of the dining etiquette between Chinese and Westerners, so that we can have an overall understanding about it. In addition, this essay will strive to find out the cultural differences of dining etiquette between them to make people behave gracefully and naturally when they meet with people who come from different countries. As a result, through communicating work with foreigners in practice, we can promote our relationships with other countries.
