Unit 6 Shopping
I. Teaching aims: 1. to do some preparation activities such as discussion, group work (ask the students to talk about one of the western holidays that they think the most interesting), etc. to practice the students’ spoken skill and communicative skills;
2. to grasp some new words and try to use these words which help them enrich their vocabulary;
3. to discuss shopping, customer behavior and psychology;
4. to do some post-reading exercises and some after-class reading to practice what they have got to know in class to improve their English comprehensive skills.
II. key points: 1. to learn the ways people do shopping;
2. talk about the customer behavior and psychology.
III. difficult points: 1. to paraphrase some difficult sentences and catch their meaning.
2. to grasp some useful words and phrases to discuss shopping

1. Word Study
Shopping was once a local activity conducted out of daily necessity. When people could not find the things they needed fairly near their homes, it was rarely feasible to look elsewhere. Think of as many as possible the names of places where you could go shopping.
Department store:
a large retail store offering a variety of merchandise and services and organized in separate departments
Bazaar:
a shop or a part of a store in which miscellaneous articles are sold
