1 BYCA Holiday Activity Funding Guidelines What is BYCA? Bristol Youth Community Action is a steering group of people made up of the current, past and future High Sheriffs, representatives from the voluntary sector, the police, the business sector and Bristol City Council. They meet regularly to make decisions on how the donations received from the High Sheriff Appeal and other fundraising activities by the High Sheriff will be spent. What is the Holiday Activity Scheme? The scheme provides funding for the delivery of co-ordinated holiday activity programmes for children and young people, designed to offer opportunities, positive experiences and reduce risk of involvement in anti-social behaviour. How much does BYCA award? Priority will be given to co-ordinated programmes of activities across one of the Areas (see below) and the maximum amount available for each Area is £5,000. We will offer a maximum of £100 per session (morning, afternoon or evening) so a maximum of 50 sessions could potentially be funded during the holiday period across an Area. By ‘co-ordinated’ we mean a programme of activities provided by a number of organisations in the same Area. This is not a formal partnership but the draft timetable included in the application must demonstrate that they are all working together eg. they are not all providing activities on the same day. One of the organisations must take the lead and submit the application (and subsequent evaluation) on behalf the consortium. Local voluntary and community organisations providing co-ordinated holiday activity programmes to 8-12 year old children.
