The mission of the Energy Department is to ensure America’s security and prosperity by addressing its energy, environmental and nuclear challenges through transformative science and technology solutions. Basic research is funded through the Office of Science (SC). Applied research is funded through Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (EDER), Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), Fossil Energy (FE), Nuclear Energy (NE), ARPA‐E, and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Innovation Hubs, Clean Energy Manufacturing Innovation Institutes (Advanced Manufacturing) and BioEnergy Centers are large‐scale Center opportunities.
