Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) JASSO is an independent administrative institution affiliated with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). As a core and leading organization dealing with student services, JASSO comprehensively takes care of a wide range of programs to support students, including scholarships and activities that are arranged for current and prospective students, so that those who are from both Japan and overseas can have a comfortable and fruitful study life in Japan. Based on the 300,000 Foreign Students Plan, a project initiated by the Japanese government to increase the number of international students in Japan to 300,000, a variety of programs are being carried out.
