Pride and Prejudice The story follows the main character Elizabeth Bennet as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education and marriage. Elizabeth is the second of five daughters of a country gentleman. Her mum’s biggest hope is to get all her five daughters married . The story develops when Elizabeth finds that Mr. Darcy is proud, haughty and extremely conscious of class differences . Mr. Darcy’s pride and Elizabeth ’ s prejudice caused misunderstandings between them at the beginning of the novel.
