Festivals around the world;Let’s talk about Spring Festivals;New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are celebrated as a family affair, a time of reunion and thanksgiving. The celebration was traditionally highlighted (突出) with a religious ceremony given in honor of Heaven and Earth（天地万物）, the gods of the household and the family ancestors. ;The presence of the ancestors is acknowledged (=widely accepted) on New Year‘s Eve with a dinner arranged for them at the family banquet(宴会) table. The spirits of the ancestors, together with the living, celebrate the beginning of the New Year as one great community. The feast(盛宴) is called surrounding the stove or weilu. It symbolizes family unity and honors the past and present generations. ;Traditional New Year Foods;Other foods include a whole fish, to represent(代表) togetherness and abundance(富足), and a chicken for prosperity（繁荣）. The chicken must be presented with a head, tail and feet to symbolize completeness.
