Unit 5 Theme parks Period 1: Warming-up and Reading “Theme parks--- fun and more than fun” 1. Teaching aims: 1) To develop the students’ listening, speaking, reading, writing abilities, especially the reading ability ,learn to use some reading strategies such as guessing, , skimming , scanning and so on; 2). Teaching procedures: Step 1 Pre-class preparation Let the students enjoy a video of a theme park to experience the thrills from it and meanwhile to learn some basic knowledge of theme parks. Step 2 Warming-up (To brainstorm the background knowledge for the whole unit and motivate the students’ interest in theme parks) At the beginning of the class, we can get the students to talk about some local parks which they are quite familiar with.
