Based on the government standard GB 18871- 2002 for radiation pro- tection and safty, with sustainable development of radiation protection in mind, and according to the radiation physics characteristics of the medical linear accelerator that would be install. We undertook a rigorous and optimized calculation for the protection needed for the radiation of the accelerator. The optimum design for the shielding protection of medical linear accelerator met the latest government standard GB 18871- 2002 for radiation protection and safty.
