Unit 3 Celebration; ;Holi, one of Indias most colorful and fun festivals, is celebrated by Indians all across the world for two to three days.Holi is celebrated at the end of the winter season on the last full moon day of the 12th lunar month, which usually falls in the latter part of February or March.It is equal to the Spring Festival in China.It is celebrated by people throwing colored powder, as well as pouring colored water on each other.The more colors on your face or body, the better luck you will have next year.;While it sounds a little crazy, its great fun! The festival also includes special processions (游行)and folk dancing — like most Indian festivals，its just about having a good time! Holi celebrations begin the night before, when bonfires(篝火)are lit to clean the air of evil spirits( 魔鬼)and to celebrate the death of the evil demon(魔鬼) “Holika” (霍利嘉)after whom the festival is named.Holika, an evil kings sister, believed herself to be free from death by fire.When the king wanted his son to die, he asked his sister to hug the prince with theintention to destroy him.In the end, Holika herself was burnt by the fire while the prince came out, safe and sound.This is Holi as the victory of good over evil.;On the day of the festival, both kids and adults go to the streets, throwing colored things to each other.At about midday, wet from water and color, everyone heads home for a clean wash, a big feast and then a much needed nap!
