In this letter, development and evolution of the hairpin band-pass filter are reviewed, and its classifications are described from the points of coupling modes and resonator types. The basic fabrication process and the influence of different size parameters are introduced, different kinds of tuning methods of the filters are compared and the applications of hairpin band-pass filter in microwave engineering field are summarized in recent years.
