School of Resource and Environment, Anhui University, 230601, Hefei, China) Abstract: Based on field investigation and laboratory analysis, the transfer characteristics of heavy metals(Cu、Zn、Pb、Cd from soil to the edible parts of two vegetable species were studied. All the plant and corresponding surface soil samples were collected from the vicinity of Tongling mining area, China. Five extraction procedure methods (DTPA、EDTA、HC、NH4NO3 and NH4OAC) were used to analyze the bioavailability of metals, and the results were compared by stepwise multiple linear regression analysis. It showed that Zn extracted by NH4NO3 and NH4OAC and Cd extracted by NH4NO3 had good correlation with metal concentrations in the edible part of researched vegetables. Extracted Pb by all the five extractants had no significant correlation with Pb concentrations in the two vegetables. Phosphorus content in soil was also a determinant variable in the estimation of extractable Zn and Cu. Root vegetables showed better accumulation of all metals than fruit vegetables in their edible parts. For all the metals studied, there was a signi?cant re
