Methods:Serafromsixvisceralleishmaniasispatientsandsixhealthycontrolswere depletedofhighabundantproteinsbyimmunodepletion.Thedepletedserawere comparedby2-DDifferenceingelelectrophoresis(DIGE).Differentiallyexpressed proteinswereidentifiedthebytandemmassspectrometry.Threeoftheidentified proteinswerefurthervalidatedbywesternblotting. Results:Thisisthefirstreportofserumproteomicsstudyusingquantitative Differenceingelelectrophoresis(DIGE)invisceralleishmaniasis.Weidentifiedalpha- 1-acidglycoproteinandC1inhibitorasupregulatedandtransthyretin,retinolbinding proteinandapolipoproteinA-Iasdownregulatedproteinsinvisceralleishmaniasis seraincomparisonwithhealthycontrols.WesternblotvalidationofC1inhibitor, transthyretinandapolipoproteinA-Iinalargercohort(n=29)confirmedsignificant differenceinthe
