学兔兔 第33卷 第8期 仪 器 仪 表 学 报 Vo1．33 No．8 2012年8月 Chinese Journal of Scientific Instrument Aug．2012 Range-based localization with the concept of virtual boundary f0r wireless sensor networks Ali Husein Alasiry ，Shinji Ohyama ( Electronic Engineering Polytechnic Institute of Surabaya，Surabaya 601 1 1，Indonesia； 2 tokyo Institute of Technology，Tokyo 2-12一 ，Japan) Abstract：For node localization in sensor networks，sufficient information of range data is required to obtain the pre— cise node position．Especially in a multi-hop topology mode1．successful data aggregation is influenced by link stabil- itv of each connection of routes．In general，the inter—node range measurement is performed only for position determi— nation Durpose．This research introduces the use of inter．node range measurement information for link selection in a multi—hop route composition in order to increase the rate of data aggregation．To solve the irregularity problems of wireless media．two areas of node communication have been considered．The regular communication area is the area in which other nodes are able to perform symmetrical communication with the node without failure．The irregular area is the area in which other nodes are seldom able to communicate．Due to its instability，some existing methods try to avoid the irregular area completely．A novel method，named virtual boundaries(VBs)，is proposed to prioritize these areas．The nodes in regular communication area have high priority to be selected as link vertices；however， when there iS no link candidate inside this area．nodes within the irregular area will be selected with
