Theyear2008celebrated30yearsofPrimaryHealthCare(PHC)policyemergingfromtheAlmaAtaDeclaration
withpublicationoftwokeyreports,theWorldHealthReport2008andtheReportoftheCommissiononthe
SocialDeterminantsofHealth.BothreportsreaffirmedtherelevanceofPHCintermsofitsvisionandvaluesin
today’sworld.However,importantchallengesintermsofdefiningPHC,equityandempowermentneedtobe
addressed.
