IWN Article, 8/5/04 Swim teams ready to dive into finals ????Teams in the Irvine Swim League will be competing in the championship meet this Saturday at the UC Irvine Aquatics Complex. ????Events will begin at 8:45 a.m. with a message from the president of the league. The Dave Kelly award will then be handed out. A singing of the national anthem will be at 9 a.m. and start time for races is at approximately 9:10 a.m. ????Teams swam in their final dual meets of the season last week. College Park Splash hosts South Irvine Dolphins ????For College Park, LeeAnn Kim broke her own team record in the 15-18 age group freestyle in a time of 26.67. ????In the 5-6 age group, swimmers placing first in an individual event were Kelsie Kan in backstroke, Katriel Klein in the freestyle and Oscar Nomura in breaststroke. ????Other point winners included Austin Luu, Morgan Mendoza and Kristen Ninonuevo. ????Holly Brandt and Eric Tran had a significant time improvement in the backstroke. The mixed 100 freestyle relay team of Tanner Colson, Tyler Knudsen, Klein and Ninonuevo placed first for College Park. ????In the 7-8 age group, Kimberly Klein won a blue ribbon in the 25-yard backstroke. ????Other point winners were Amy Boden in the butterfly, breaststroke and freestyle, Madison Hank in the breaststroke, Bryton Horner in butterfly and breaststroke, Chase Mendoza in the butterfly, backstroke and freestyle and Kristen Vande Wydeven in butterfly and backstroke. ????Swimmers with significant time improvements included Nathan Brown, Evan Colson, Patrick Dwane, Nhu Ha, Keith Kim, Summer Mallay, Emily Reikes, Nick Scagliotti, Alexis Schneider, Jacob Torrey and Jamison Vu. ????In the 9-10 age group, the medley relay teams made up of Kelsie Morton, Valerie Kan, Connie Kim, Cameron Yong, Katlyn Hank, Katie Morton, Michael Iorga and Felix Hong placed first. ????Individual first place winners were Hong in the backstroke, Iorga in butterfly, Kim in the freestyle, Morton in the backs
