The geneticgainwasevaluatedagainstanunselectedcontrolline.Afterfourgenerations,themean responsepergenerationinlengthatoneyearwas6.2%ofthecontrolmean,whilethemeancor- relatedresponseinweightwas21.5%ofthecontrolmeanpergeneration.Atthe4thgeneration, selected?shalsoappearedtobeleanerthancontrol?shwhencomparedatthesamesize,and theresponseonweightwasmaximal(≈130%ofthecontrolmean)between386and470days postfertilisation.Thishighresponseispromising,however,thekeypointsofthemethodhave tobeinvestigatedinmoredetail.
