either 和neither的用法区别
一、基本区别
either和neither均用于指两者，either意为“两者之一”“任意一方”，neither意为“两者都不”。两者均可直接修饰名词，但被修饰名词要用单数形式。如：
He could write with either hand. 他两只手都能写字。
You may take either of the roads. 两条路你走哪一条都行。
Neither statement is true. 两种说法都不是事实。
I tried on two dresses, but neither fitted me. 我试了两件连衣裙，但哪一件也不合身。
注意，neither可视为either的否定式，即neither= not either。如：
I like neither book.=I don’t like either book. 这两本书我都不喜欢。
nothing less than与nothing more than
1. nothing less than的意思是“不亚于”“完全”。如：
It was nothing less than a miracle. 那完全是个奇迹。
His negligence was nothing less than criminal. 他的粗心大意无异于犯罪。
2. nothing more than的意思是“仅仅”“不过是”。如：
It was nothing more than a shower. 只不过下了场阵雨。
It is nothing more than a made-up story. 它只不过是杜撰的故事而已。
anyone, everyone, no one能否接of短语
一般说来，不定代词anyone, everyone, no one后不能接表示范围的of短语，若要接可考虑改用any one, every one, none。如：
这些书中的每一本我都喜欢。
误：I like everyone of these books.
正：I like every one of these books.
这些孩子当中我一个也不认识。
误：I don’t know anyone of these children.
正：I don’t know any one of these children.
我的朋友谁也没去过巴黎。
误：No one of my friends has ever been to Paris.
正：None of my friends has ever been to Paris.
anyone与whoever有何区别
anyone为不定代词，意为“任何人”，在句中可用作主语或宾语等；而whoever虽然也是代词，但不是不定代词，它的意思是“任何……人都”“无论是谁”，它在句子中主要用于引导名词性从句和让步状语从句。如：
Anyone can do that. 那事情谁都会做。
I never lend it to anyone. 我从来不把它借给任何人。
I’ll take whoever wants to go. 谁想去我就带谁去。
I won’t open the door, whoever you are. 不管你是谁，我都不会开门。
比较下面的正误句：
违反本法者应予以罚款。
误：Anyone breaks this law deserves a fine.
正：Anyone who breaks this law deserves a fine.
正：Whoever breaks this law deserves a fine.
anything可以指人吗
在通常情况下，anything用于指事物，不用于指人，但在anything but（根本不，绝不是）这一习语中，既可用于指事物，也可用于指人。如：
My income is anything but large. 我的收入绝对不能算多。
He’ll do anything but that. 他什么都干，唯独不愿做那件事。
He is anything but polite. 他根本不懂礼貌。
He is anything but a poet. 他绝不是诗人。
