IN-CLASS WRITING FOR PRACTICE 2011年1月2日雅思小作文范文 Answer A glimpse at the two pie charts provided reveal that profound changes concerning the main sources of energy (oil, natural gas, coal, hydroelectric power and nuclear energy) took place in the US in the 1980s and the 1990s. Answer With regard to oil, it experienced the most apparent change from 42% to 33%. In the 1980s, the percentage of oil accounted for approximately half of the main sources of energy, while in the 1990s, this proportion dropped to one third. In terms of natural gas, there was merely a very slight decrease of 1% from 26% to 25%. Answer Furthermore, no change occurred with reference to hydroelectric power, remaining 5% all along from 1980s to 1990s. Answer Conversely, there was an upward trend in the proportion for coal and nuclear power, which witnessed an increase of 5% (from 22% to 27%) and a same increase of 5% (from 5% to 10%) respectively. Answer From an overall perspective, coal and nuclear power enjoyed a same rise of 5%, while oil and natural gas had a decrease, leaving hydroelectric power unchanged. * *
