Subsequently, this paper presented the viewpoint of heavy metal contam inated soils remed iation using clay m inerals based on their effective decontam ination ab ility. Moreover, the rem ediation mechan isms and research progresswere described by the characteristics of natural and mod ified clay m inerals, and its mi pact factorsw ere also summarized. F inally, challenges of heavy metals contam inated soils rem ediation using clay m inerals w ere analyzed, and future d irections relating to th is aspect w ere discussed.
