Before the invasion of western colonizers to Indonesia, the Chinese and the natives coexisted friendly and peacefully, and the Chinese made great contributions to the economic prosperity of Indonesia. After the colonial rule of the Netherlands to Indonesia, a lot of Chinese sought a livelihood or were captured as labor to Indonesia. They participated all- sidedly in the transition of Indonesian economy from the nature to the market and played important roles. Dur- ing the 20th century, two types of national awakening and double track national movements arose in Indonesia: one of the Chinese, the other of the native. In the course of seeking the national independence of Indonesia, the two movements collaborated gradually.
