Abstract :Based on the characteristics of the insurgencies in South Thailand ，the paper categorizes and analyses
the factors such as method ，goal ，time and site of the insurgencies ，and compares them with the characteristics of
international terrorism with an aim to variously discuss the reasons why the insurgencies in South Thailand last years
and cannot be quelled． To this article ，the causes of continuous insurgencies in South Thailand are rather complex．
The insurgency may have its root in national separatism movement ，meanwhile it is tied to domestic politics and e-
conomy．
