The m ain p rob lem s in m agne sium alloy welding were analyzed, the re su lts of recent inve stigation s on the welding tech n ique s were reviewed, the characteristic s of ga s tungsten arc welding, m etal inertia gas welding, friction stir welding, fric tion welding, la ser welding, electron beam welding and re sistance spot welding were summ arized and the future direction s of re search and app lication of m agne sium alloy were pointed out.
