Chapter iii longitudinal section design
Design principle
The vertical section of the line is cut along the middle of the road. Because of natural influences and economic requirements, the vertical section of the line is always an undulating space line. Profile is designed according to the dynamic performance of the car, road grade, the local natural and geographical conditions, such as engineering economy study and the size of the space geometric structure line and length, in order to achieve safety, transportation, economic and reasonable quickly and passengers feel comfortable. Therefore, the main factors to consider in the design of the longitudinal section are to meet the speed of the road, the economy of transport and the safety of the driving.
The design principle of section 3.1.1 is as follows
The linear design should be smooth, smooth and continuous in order to ensure safe driving.
In order to ensure the safety of driving, comfort and gentle incline, the fluctuation should not be frequent.
The slope design should be considered for the balance of excavations and the use of the excavated area as the filling in order to reduce the effect of horizontal slope and landscape on natural ground.
The algebraic difference of the adjacent longitudinal slope should be taken by the large vertical curve radius.
A continuous upslope (or downhill) section shall be in accordance with the provisions of the average longitudinal grade and shall be inspected by the speed of operation and safety of the vehicle.
The longitudinal slope of the route intersections should be balanced.
On highways in snow or ice areas, avoid steep slopes.
