The resu lts ind icated that ammon ia n itrogen, m anganese, iron, CODM n and turbidity cou ld be 3 2 removed effectively by BAF process under hydraulic load ing at 4 to 5 m /(m h) and an airw ater ratio of 3 1 and 4 1. The optmi um removal efficiency of ammonia n itrogen w as obtained when the iron concentration of raw w aterw as low er than 2 mg/L and DO w as about 4 mg/L in the m iddle of the filter 2+ bed. A sm a
