Course Description（课程描述） In terms of integrally?improving the English?proficiency of the students, CONTEMPORARY COLLEGE ENGLISH is one of the most professional?textbooks?for English-major students to learn English well, with which we can cultivate better the students’ interests of English learning, their habit of independent-thinking in English, the ability of organizing a composition logically and their?practice?capacity. The students of this class are four-year freshmen whose English is a little good, therefore the course should not only involve the theoretical knowledge of writing in the textbook of CONTEMPORARY COLLEGE ENGLISH, but also should contain some practical training to make them prepare for their CET6 and TEM4. This textbook involves the details and common knowledge about English writing, speaking, reading and listening, concerning several aspects of how to practice daily conversation, write composition in English etc. This is the required course suitable for the English major students to study carefully, which is also a good choice for autonomous study in that the book contains numerous important words, examples, detailed explanation, tasks and keys to exercises with explanation. CONTEMPORARY COLLEGE ENGLISH consists of 16 units, including Half a Day ,The Boy and the Bank Officer, Message of the Land and so on which are all very excellent passages. In each of these passages there are many useful words and exercises, through which the students could improve their English largely.
