Compared to other relatively modern central or coastal cities , the Jianghuai region , however , was backward in economy and underdeveloped in traffic , having several distinctive featuresbeing slower at the very beginning , later to change , and even steadily adhere to the old traditions. Since the Western cultures and civilization had been constantly introduced into modern China , along with the strong advocation of the Chinese progressives from all walks of life and the development of the New Culture Moveme时， some of the corrupt customs of the wedding ceremony in Jianghuai region had been gradually eliminated.
