S T, Zhongshan Univ. , Guangzhou 510275, China) Abstract:Workflow Performance analysis is the basis of workflow evaluation and optimization. Time is an important aspect of workflow performance. T here are usually several instances of different workflow s running in the w orkflow management system so that different act ivities compete for resources. To solve t his problem, a general met hod using queuing theory was proposed to analyze the time performance of a workflow running in such a workflow management system. The average throughput time of w orkflow instances w as used as the indicator of w orkflow t ime perform ance. Finally, some examples were given to illustrate the feasibility and validity of the method. Future research trends w ere also proposed.
