Contrastive?study?of?major?English?teaching?methods Abstract In China, since the execution of reform and opening policy, the teachers have made great achievements in English teaching,the English teaching has entered another new century-the times of innovation. In order to cater for the need of national fundamental reform, many aspects in English teaching should be changed. Chinas three traditional teaching methods, Translation Methods, Direct Method and Audio-lingual approach Method can not satify modem English teaching anymore. Since English transferred into China as a foreign language, tTranslation Methods, Direct Method and Audio-lingual approach Method were among the most frequently used teaching method. Nowadays, Chinas English teaching methods have been greatly promoted and improved; however, Translation Methods, Direct Method and Audio-lingual approach Method still over weight the others. It is worthwhile giving a giving a Contrastive study of major English teaching methods.
