For a long time , the filter cake compression factors , which obtained by the students in constant pressure filtration experiment in our university , were nega tive. The data range of compression factor was - O. 1 to - o. 8 , which contradicts with the non-negative theoretical value. Through the observation of some student experiments and analysis of data processing and results , the two possible reasons were found and validated by experiments. The main reason was that the water for adjusting zero liquid level of the metering cylinder was poured into the filter slurry tank and the filter cake was lost in the washing process. Finally , the operation notes of the experiment and im provement cases of the experimental apparatus were put forward.
