The pitch of M engines is relatively bigger due to water jacket. As already described, M16A has an open head type cylinder block. Valve angle is 29 degrees. The intake port could be designed, in order to erect as much as possible, against combustion chamber. Due to the above, intake air is directly admitted into the combustion chamber. Then it may form the TUMBLE FLOW in it. The tumble flow will increase combustion efficiency and burning velocity. The valves are lifted by cam through a tappet directly. The M engine has been reduced in mechanical friction, compared with rocker arm mechanism. The plastic range tightening bolt is used as a cylinder head bolt. As this type of bolt is a plastic deformation bolt, it should be inspected before reuse. The same type of bolt is used for main bearing cap and connecting rod. The method of inspection is described later. Before reusing plastic tightening range bolts, check them for deformation. Measure diameter at points “a” and “b”. The difference between obtained values “A” and “B” should be less than 0.1mm. If “A”-”B” exceeds this service limit, the bolt should be replaced with a new one. When tightening 10 pcs. of the cylinder head bolts, you have to go through four (4) steps. 1st step, all bolts shall be tightened in the torque of 20Nm (2.0kg-m) diagonally. 2st step, all bolts shall be further tightened in the torque of 40Nm (4.0kg-m) diagonally. 3rd step, all bolts shall be turned clockwise 60 degrees clockwise. 4th step (last step), all
