LOGO LOGO LOGO How to Write Reading Comment How to write a reading comment? A book review is not simply a plot summary or an unsupported opinion of how well the reader did or did not like the book. A book review includes information about the key elements of the book (plot, character, setting, purpose, theme, etc.) and the reviewers opinion of how well the author has succeeded in using those elements to write an effective story. Introduction Write a strong paragraph that states the book’s title (underlined or italicized), genre (类别), author’s information, and publication information. Also gives a brief statement about the book’s angle or message. It should be mistake-free and interesting. Body Before you get started on the body of the report, take a few minutes to jot down (草草记下) some helpful information by considering the following points. ? Did you enjoy the book? ? Was it well written? ? If it was a fictional (虚构的) work, list the characters. ? If it was a work of non-fiction, identify the writer’s thesis. ? What is the writing style? ? Is this book a part of a series? In the body of your book report, you will write an extended summary of the book, while weaving some of the points above through your remarks. For example, you could say: “This book, the writer offers insight to the bizarre （奇异的）childhood of Bethany Robbins, the main character.
