A centrifuge dynam ic testw as performed on a un iform free saturated sand ground mode,l which w as pre- pared by the dry depositionmethod and contained in a lam inar shear box. A cceleration, lateral displacemen,t vert-i cal settlement asw ell as excesspore pressurew eremeasured during the shak ing event. Itw as observed that themo- tion and the deformation of soil body are closely associated w ith the development of excesspore pressu re, but there exists remarkable difference between the phenomena occurring at the centrifuge and in the field. The results further our understanding of soi-lw ater interaction under shak ing, and provide the data for validating the analyticalm ethods of the seism ic response of free ground.
