The breadth of short-term memory of college students was measured using the memory span method
Short-term memory refers to the memory of the processing of information within a minute of the brain. In this experiment, four female college students were given a trial to determine the breadth of their short-term memory by using the memory span method. This experiment can be concluded that the characteristics of short-term memory, and the individual differences in short-term memory capacity, and found that the experiment USES memory material difference has a certain influence on memory span.

Short-term memory, also known as operating memory, working memory, or phone number memory. It is a memory that holds information for more than a minute or so until the stimulus is terminated.
When we make a phone call from the phone book need phone number, can according to the memory immediately to the telephone dial this number, but after the matter, for this number is cant remember. This kind of memory is a short-term memory.
Short-term memory is conscious. In short-term memory speech material information basically is encoded in the visual form, the movement and space image information basically is encoded in the visual form. The contents of short-term memory, such as retelling and encoding, enter into long memory.
The information in short-term memory usually lasts between 0.5 and 18 seconds, less than one minute.
In recent years, studies have shown that memory span is associated with the properties of memory materials. If the material is presented by the Numbers, letters, words, or associated nonsense syllable, short-term memory span of seven plus or minus two, more than this range memory error occurs. If the material presented is meaningful, connected and familiar, the breadth of memory can increase. The breadth of memory can be increased by encoding, reencoding, and appropriately expa
