English is an optional course for English majors.
[instructional]
The main purpose is to cultivate students in the appropriate context can ability to apply the appropriate statement, from simple static study of language, understand and establish the pragmatic rules, eventually make natural language instead of sign language, shrink the distance between language and real life to the greatest extent.
[teaching mission]
This course mainly through two important concepts in pragmatics speech act and context enable students to master its interaction and composition in the core role in language communication, in pragmatics instructions, presupposition, speech act theory, conversational cooperative principle, discourse logic several topics such as research, so that the students can, from the perspective of the speaker and the listener know language behavior is is conditioned by various social code of behavior, and can use social statute in combination with the pragmatic knowledge to explain some language phenomena. Make language research language context - the user - such a trinity, the three-dimensional study of the understanding of language from inevitability to freedom, from static to dynamic, from one-way analysis to expand the overall, setting out the essence of intercultural communication behavior fit.

The course content includes: instructions, referential and inferences, preset, conversational cooperation principles and implications, verbal behavior theory, politeness principle.
