Jiangsu University Zhenjiang 212013 China Abstract Light emitting diode LED is provided with the virtues of saving energy, environment protection, long lifetime and compact size, etc. It can be applied gradually in a variety aspects of colored and white lighting such as road lighting, moving lighting, family lighting, martial lighting and so on. Developing the industry of semiconductor lighting will bring significant impact on national economy and politics. It will hold back the energy crisis, control and reduce environmental pollution, and help to sustainable development of national economy. In this paper, the character of semiconductor lighting is introduced; then the present status and industrialization application of semiconductor lighting home and abroad are reviewed; meanwhile, some technology problems that semiconductor lighting industry faces with are analyzed.
