Safety and Disaster Prevention, Dept. of Civil Eng., Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai 200030, China) Abstract: Based on the statistics of documents, papers published in Chinese Journal of Geotechnical Engineering during 1998~2004 were analyzed herein, including the distributions of institutes and their districts for the core authors as well as the proportion of papers related to experimental studies. This article indicated some points on the recent development of geotechincal engineering in China and made some comments to the Journal for its further improvement.
