The problems about how to evacuate people from these h igh-rise buildings are becom ingmore andmore h ighlighted. The stairw ays evacuation is recomm ended in h igh-rise bu ildings but th isw ay w ill take a long tmi e. There are number of elevators used in high-rise bu ild ingsw hich have an advan- tage of upright transportation. The stud ies about how to use the elevators in h igh-rise bu ild ings are becom ing more and hotter in international fire science related research fields after/ 9# 110. A ctually there alreadyw eremany peo- ple who evacuated by using elevators safely and successfu lly in many fire cases. In th ispaper, a h ighrise residential building fire w asused as an examp le and the ELVAC elevator evacuation model and SIMULEX stairw ay evacuation modelw ere adopted, the influences of the number of elevators and the d istribution of people on the elevator evacua- tionw ere analyzed.
