Fault calculation for relay parallel setting and coordination in a large-scale power system

Abstract: By taking the tie lines among electric networks as boundary lines, a large-scale power system is decomposed into some
sub-systems. The decomposition-coordination method is employed to deal with the effects among sub-systems, and the compensation
method is used to simulate network operations in a sub-system. Under the condition of not modifying the mathematical model of
sub-systems, a parallel method to calculate fault electric parameters for relay setting and coordination in a large-scale power system
is presented. The proposed method can be used both on-line and off-line in the relay parallel setting and coordination of a large-scale
power system.
