We are always writing to an audience(s) for particular purposes. ? Who our readers may be, why they want to read our ideas, what do they expect to read, when and where they will be reading, how they might view us as writers;Writing is linear.;Writing is recursive.;Writing is both subject and object. ;Writing is decision making. ;Writing is both an interesting and challenging act—one that is rich, complex, and valuable. ;Q: What is good writing?;Task Achievement;Tip for the day;Sentences Types Writing Effective Sentences ;Group of words that contains at least one subject and one verb. A sentence expresses a complete thought. (p.43) According to their structure, there are 3 types of sentences: Simple Compound Complex ;1 subject + 1 verb “I went to the store.” The subject can be compound “Mary and I went to the theater last night.” The verb can be compound ‘’He stepped off the stone and walked to the beach.” May have more than one object ‘’John and Mary cooked a main course and desert and had a picnic.” ;A simple sentence may not be short. A short sentence can impresses you by its immediate clarity. Try using short simple sentences together with longer ones to give variety to your writing.;composed of 2 or more simple sentences joined together by 1. a semicolon (“;”) Eg. “John ate breakfast; he was hungry.” 2. a comma (“,”) and a coordinating conjunction. Coordinating conjunctions: and, or, nor, for, so, but, yet. (安窝挪佛搜吧爷);“John ate apples, and Mary ate oranges.” (for joining compatible sentences or those of similar importance) “John will eat an apple, or he will eat an orange.” (for joining simple sentences that offer choices/alternatives);“John doesn’t like apples, nor does he like being hungry.” (for
