Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835 – 1910), better known by the pen name Mark Twain, was an American author and humorist. Twain is most famous for his novels Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which has since been called the Great American Novel, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. 1835 – 1910 《王子与贫儿》 汤姆·索亚历险记 哈克贝利·费恩历险记 密西西比河上的生活 卡城名蛙 傻子国外旅行记 His masterpiece 1876 The Adventures of Tom Sawyer The adventures of Tom Sawyer This is a story about a young boy named Tom Sawyer who is very naughty and likes to go on adventures. He lives with his Aunt Polly and his half brother Sid. Tom also had two friends named Joe Harper and Huckleberry Fin. Becky Thatcher is Tom’s girlfriend and Injun Joe is the town’s thief and murder. This story takes place in the mid-1800s in a small village in Missouri along the Mississippi River. His masterpiece 1881 The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn The adventures of Huckleberry Finn Before the novel begins, Huck Finn has led a life of absolute freedom. His parents are either dead or absent and so Huck is not used to following any rules. The most important part of his character is his desire to save a black slave, Jim, and free him from slavery. He runs away with Jim whom he sees as a person and not property(财产). They escape down the river giving Huckleberry time to think of the best thing to do. His works are full of humor and irony(讽刺) for the rich and the dishonest and sympathy for the poor.
