Took part in the Civil War; after the Restoration of Charles II, the Puritans underwent sever persecution and he himself was imprisoned twice for his preaching, once for twelve years. It was during his second and shorter term that he wrote Part I of his masterpiece—The Pilgrim’s Progress. He had little schooling. Part 2: Bunyans works 1. It has two parts. The first part deals with Christian’s pilgrimage to the Celestial City, through which he realized his own salvation.
