It is a co plex and syste atic project to build a certain shape salt cavern by eans of leaching. Based on the characteristics of the salt cavern gas storage built in the bedded salt for ation in China, this paper fully discussed the application of salt dissolution on the design of gas storage cavern. Through analysis of the for ing echanis ofgas storage cavern, the follow ing techniqueswereput forward fro the view of salt dissolution, shape control and detection as follows, the correspondingwell type to salt cavern, the circulation easure, steps of solution ining, adjusting of leaching pipeline, the shape control techniques, roof protection, sealing detection, and cavern stability, etc. And the pipe string asse bly for leaching, the ethod to deter ine the circulation rate, and the easure to keep cavern stability, are also reco ended.
