Abstract: The paper makes a systematic explanation of the aesthetic characteristics and its historical changes.
The changes of decorative lines brought by abstract lines and their development are the aesthetic characterisiticsof
the bronze wares in the Shang ynasty. From the perspective of aesthetic function these decorative lines imply
some religious meanings and from that of form they show the characteristics of symmetry, equilibrium, rhythm,
symbolization and so on.
