Happiness is a cup of water when dying of thirsty. Happiness is a loaf of bread when starving to death. Happiness is a feel of hunger when finding nothing tasty. Happiness is a look of smile when taking the last breath. Happiness is the sweet smile blooming on the childs face for a tiresome mother. Happiness is the oasis in the desert for an exhausted traveller. Happiness is the warm feeling dancing in the heart of lover. Happiness is an unchanged melody that never alters. Tasks Read two essays in Part A. Write an essay about your ideas of happiness. Remember: Happiness depends on how you think happiness can be. Happiness is easy to come by as long as you cherish the people around you and remember how lucky you are. Happiness can be created by yourselves. What time does the writer consider to be the happiest of his life? 3. Why does the writer think those days were happy? 4. What does the writer think young people can do while old people can’t? 1. Is the writer old or young? How do you know that? The writer is old. He says ‘… to look back on my school days’ and ‘when I was young’, implying that he is not young any more. 2. What time does the writer consider to be the happiest of his life? His days at school were the happiest of his life. 3. Why does the writer think those days were happy? He didn’t have any worries in life and could spend all day outside playing with his friends and talking about interesting things. All he had to do was go to school and spend a few hours studying after school. His parents took care of everything important . At the weekends, he could see friends, visit his grandparents, read books and play sport. He didn’t need to think about problem
