The developments of methanol to olefins(MTO) and methanol to propylene(MTP) in
process technology are summarizedthe olefin separation technologies are introducedthe industrial
application courses of MTO/MTP are collected and the future of MTO/MTP industry is forecasted.
The process technologies of MTO and MTP have successfully been applied in commercial scaleand
the total olefins capacity of the MTO/MTP projects which have already completedare being built
now and are planned at home has reached 15.19 Mt/awhich will take up more than 1/4 share of the
total olefins capacity(ethylene and propylene). In futureit is needed to further improve the catalyst
performance and olefins separation processes of MTO/MTP to enhance the yield of olefins and decrease
the investment and the specific energy consumption of the plants.
