Stage 3 Exchange The application of situational approach in primary English class: Demonstrate the meaning of new language items by using concrete objects, pictures, realia(直观教具), multimedia and so on, together with actions and gestures. The meaning of words or structures is not to be given through but is to be induced (引入）from the way the form is used in a situation. Why? “If we give the meaning of a new word, either by translation into the home language or by an equivalent in the same language, as soon as we introduce it, we weaken the impression which the word makes on the mind. .(Billows).” The learner is expected to apply the language learned in a classroom to situation outside the classroom. This is how child language learning is believed to take place. ----- 语言来源于情景。 ----- 交际在情景中得以完成。 具体的语言都是在一定情景下使用的，离开了一定的情景，人们便很难表达和理解语言;没有了情景的依托，英语教学也就失去了语言学习与操练的环境。 操作程序: 1．情景导入。 情景导入是学生接触新的语言材料的阶段，也是学生形成新的语言概念的启蒙阶段在教学中，教师可通过呈现实物、图片、幻灯、投影等静态情景来帮助学生感知新的词汇和句型，以建立音、形、义之间的联系并进行听音仿说等语言实践活动这是语言学习的输人期。 2. 情景操练。 情景操练是学生对新的语言材料的练习阶段。也是学生形成新的语言知识的巩固阶段在这一阶段中，教师可通过创设动态情景，如录像、多媒体视屏以及体态语言等让学生做机械性或替代性练习，以理解和掌握新的语言材料和知识:这是语言学习的半输人、半输出期。 3．情景运用。
