In structured analysis, the dimension of decomposition is by processes or functions. However, in object-oriented analysis, the dimension of decomposition is fundamentally by things or entities in the domain. A central distinction between object-oriented and structured analysis is: division by conceptual classes (objects) rather than division by functions.
