Abstract：Graphiteintercalationcompoundswerepreparedbyusingadoubletreatmentmethod to increasethe
expandedvolume．Theexpandablegraphite(expandedvolume250mI／g)waspreparedbychemicaloxidation．
Thentheexpandablegraphitewasusedastheraw materia1．Theexpandedgraphite，with expandedvolumeof
380mI／g，waspreparedbyusingthereinsertionmethod．Theinfluencesofmixtureratio，reactiontemperature
andtimeontheexpandedvolumewerealsoinvestigated．X raydiffractionpatternsprovidedevidenceforthein—
lercalationproductremainedinthecrystallinestructureofnaturalgraphite，butthegraphitelayerdistancewas
widened．TheSEM imagesindicate thatthe graphite layersopened furtherby thereinsertion．Theresults
showedthatthemethodwaspotentiallyfeasibleandapplicable．Thisnew methodcouldpotentiallyprovideFlew
insightsintographite～basednanomaterials．
