Changes_in_the_Way_We_Live概要1

With urbanization, globalization, scientific and technological advancement, etc, the way we live is changing rapidly. Some changes are favorable but others are not so. Cities are usually a preferred place to live in for young people, but there are people who choose the old-fashioned simple, leisured, unsophisticated, close-to-nature way of life. Americans might be a nation most used to changes who believe no one stands still. If you are not moving ahead, you’re falling behind. Traditions can be a guide, but not necessarily superior. Better and better ways can be found. Life is in constant change. It’s neither the strongest nor the most intelligent of a species that will survive, it is those who are most adaptable to changes. This pursuit of perfection leads to American’s positive attitude towards change and results in a nation of people committed to researching, experimenting, and exploring. Only about 20% of Americans live outside cities and towns. Life may be difficult for people who live in the country. Services like hospitals and schools may be further away, and going shopping can mean driving long distances. Some people even have to drive from their homes to the main road where their mail is left in a box. In spite of the disadvantages, many people who live in the country say that they like the safe, clean, attractive environment. But their children often move to a town or city as soon as they can. As in Britain, Americans like to go out to the country at weekends. Some people go on camping or fishing trips, others go hiking in national parks.
